Optimization on Critical Current and Transport Loss of Canted Stack by Copper Interleaving Method

Recent HTS applications are generally based on REBCO tapes, and REBCO stack is a common intermediate in these applications. Therefore, improving the REBCO stack is of economic and practical significance. A novel stack, canted stack, is proposed to release the limitation of stacking number. Copper interleaving is a method to improve electromagnetic performance. Namely, any two adjacent REBCO tapes can be interleaved by one copper tape. However, copper interleaving in the middle part and the marginal part may bring different effects on canted stack. In this study, we discuss the difference of marginal interleaving and middle interleaving comprehensively. Based on the experimental verification, this study confirms that the middle interleaving has a better performance in critical current and transport loss of canted stack.
