Lifetime Evaluation of Photovoltaic Insulating Backsheets Based on Elongation at Break Considering the Drop-off Rate

The excessive use of traditional fossil energy has led to energy crisis and environmental pollution. It is increasingly essential to use photovoltaic power generation technology to prevent energy crisis. As the core component of photovoltaic module, the service life of the insulating backsheet is crucial for the reliability of the modules. However, the backsheet is susceptible to various environmental stresses, which accelerates the aging progress and reduces the service life of the backsheet. Traditional life evaluation models are difficult to accurately quantify the degree of degradation of the backsheets. In this paper, a life evaluation model utilizing elongation at break based on the drop-off rate is developed to investigate the lifetime of backsheets under the influence of temperature and ultraviolet irradiation. This research provides the valuable reference for establishing the life evaluation model of the polymeric backsheets.
