Mobile Microrobot Grippers for Cell Spheroid Micromanipulation

This study presents the design, development, and application of a novel microrobot system and scaffold for the precise manipulation and assembly of cell spheroids in tissue en-gineering. Our microrobot system, equipped with a two photon 3D printed mobile microrobot gripper, is capable of accurately picking and placing cell spheroids onto a specifically designed scaffold without compromising cell viability or function. We demonstrate the system's ability to handle spheroids with precision, placing them in a predefined grid layout on chamber slides. Our findings indicate that the microrobotic system successfully supports the targeted placement and subsequent growth of cell spheroids, a critical step towards constructing functional tissue constructs. This work not only showcases the potential of microrobotics in bioengineering applications but also lays the groundwork for future developments in the assembly of complex tissue models and regenerative medicine. The integration of microrobotic systems with scaffold technologies represents a significant advancement in the field, offering new avenues for the fabrication of tissue constructs with precise cellular architectures.
