IoT - The Value Stream 4.0 model for SCM

The current demands on companies with regard to the flexibility of production and logistics as well as the digitization of processes are extremely high. To handle all relationships between companies within the supply chain, production and supply chain management must be implemented that provides easy visualization of key digitization aspects of an Internet of Things (loT). To meet increasingly complex requirements, a new way to describe all attributes associated with each process must be found. Additionally Physical industrial processes have to be integrated in complex digitization models. For this reason, the Value Stream 4.0 model was developed. The aim of this publication is to show the possibilities of Value Stream modelling in different ways, but in particular the advantages of the Value Stream 4.0 model and its description of digitization. For the Value Stream 4.0 model, it is important to map all information, regardless of whether it is physical or associated material and information flows. To represent these different flows, there is a uniform representation that is based on special symbols for Value Stream modelling Depending on the details focused on, each value stream can be expanded into a Value Stream 4.0 model. These also enable a closer look at whether complex digitization is taking place.
