Extended Abstract: You Can Lead a Horse to Water: Students’ Usage Patterns of an Open Educational Resource for Technical Communication

College students frequently skip buying required textbooks. In response, many educators are assigning Open Educational Resources (OER) rather than traditional publisher-created textbooks. Even so, scant empirical evidence exists about whether students actually use these OER. This project addresses this issue by examining Google Analytics data from a free, online Technical Communication textbook. Results indicate that student use of the OER is increasing.
