Practical Demand Side Management and Demand Response in Large Scale Buildings with Multiple Case Studies

This paper proposes a demand-side management (DSM) solution for commercial buildings to optimize energy consumption in response to fluctuating energy prices. The DSM algorithm was tested during extreme days with high electricity prices and also negative energy prices, demonstrating its ability to reduce consumption without compromising indoor comfort. The paper also discusses the practical implementation of demand response (DR) services for automatic upward and downward balancing of the energy grid automatically, highlighting the potential for third-party software to improve energy performance in the portfolio of commercial buildings without additional investments.
