Optimal State of Charge Control of EV Batteries within Energy Community Considering Cost Minimization and Environmental Impact

Energy communities (EC) represent a promising concept for changes in the energy sector for sustainable energy generation and electric vehicles (EV). This paper analyses the possibilities of the optimal state of charge (SOC) control of EV batteries within the concept of EC in the current market conditions. The profiles of the electricity demand and generation from PV of prosumers were obtained by measurement, while the other technical data of EVs were selected considering those currently available on the market and by surveying EV owners. Various case studies have been analyzed concerning different operation modes of EVs and considering the local electricity market (LEM). The results show that the level of savings and environmental impact depends on the modes of operation of EVs and the utilization of LEM (local utilization of generated electricity). Reducing costs by 30.73% and simultaneously reducing CO2 by 5.59 % can be achieved.
