Online System Identification Based Reconfigurable Embedded Real-Time Simulator for Electronic Power Converters

This paper discusses the Real-Time (RT) simulation of static power converters. It suggests an adaptive RT model that approximates the experimental power switch dynamics by transfer functions with varying coefficients. This approach allows matching closely the behavior of the physical converter, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of the simulation results. To do so, the RT model is associated with an online system identification process. This combination adds a layer of flexibility allowing for dynamic adjustments based on operational conditions, ultimately contributing to the effective implementation of digital twins for power converter. This paper presents the adopted online identification process and its digital implementation on a Field Programmable Gate Array System on Chip (FPGA-SoC) device. The obtained results are promising and lay a solid foundation for future work.
