Experimental Investigation and Modelling of the Temperature Effect in Mono-Si Solar Cells using the Novel d1MxP Model

The efficiency of photovoltaic modules is quite dependent on environmental conditions, such as temperature and irradiance. The temperature influence in the semiconductor varies regarding its properties. This article presents experimental results with monocrystalline silicon, to verify how they respond to several temperature and irradiance levels. To study the performance of this cell, two distinct models are used: the 1M5P and the d1MxP models. In this context, the parameters of both models are analysed under extreme temperature conditions, allowing for a better understanding of cell behaviour. Based on the experimental results, it is concluded that the short-circuit current increases with temperature, while the open-circuit voltage and the maximum power point decrease. For all the experimental results, the novel d1MxP model presents better fitting results.
