An enhanced QoS mechanism based on QoS decision assistant information

Emerging services with increasingly stringent and differentiated performance requirements will be more dependent on Quality of Service (QoS) mechanism. The policy decision and parameter configuration of existing QoS mechanism are carried out independently by the core network. This mechanism is not conducive to the end-to-end QoS guarantee due to the neglect of the status of other network domains such as access network domain and service network domain serving user equipments. Therefore, this paper proposes an enhanced QoS Decision Assistant Information (QDAI) based QoS mechanism to overcome the defects of existing monodirectional and coarse-grained QoS mechanism. The core network can make more suitable QoS decision under the assistance of the received QDAI, which can be provided through different types of reporting procedures we introduced. System model is constructed to analyze the end-to-end delay of the QoS mechanism and numerical results are provided to demonstrate the relationship of QDAI and QoS mismatch. The interaction among the entire network QoS participants is beneficial to achieve the end-to-end QoS assurance in an fine-grained manner and avoid the traffic discarding, delaying and retransmission caused by QoS mismatch, better supporting the emerging vertical industries in the future B5G/6G networks.
