NB-IoT Deployment Scheme with Power and Carrier Allocation in LTE&NR Macro Base Stations

With the need to increasing requirement of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the operator deploys narrowband IoT(NB-IoT) into LTE structure via updating existing low specification 800 MHz LTE&NR macro base stations(MBSs) remotely to simultaneously service LTE, NR and NB-IoT users with low cost in village and frontier sentry. Compared to LTE, NB-IoT offers 20 dB coverage extension. Thus, different NB-IoT and LTE coverage in NB-IoT-based LTE&NR MBSs causes LTE, NR and NB-IoT users access issue. To solve this problem, a novel MBSs coverage and resources allocation scheme is proposed to provide access service for LTE, NR and NB-IoT users and maximize the system throughput via optimizing NB-IoT carrier and power allocation in NB-IoT-based LTE&NR MBSs. We firstly deploy LTE/NR MBSs to satisfy LTE and NR users SINR. To meet the access requirement of NB-IoT users, we use K-Means++ to cluster NB-IoT users with the constrain of NB-IoT users SINR and then allocate carrier resource to users in each cluster. To maximize the throughput, gradient descent is used to solve this convex issue to allocate power among all users in each cluster. Our proposed scheme shows better performance compared with other two NB-IoT deployment schemes via simulation.
