Enhance sensitivity of surface plasmon resonance sensor using a TMDCs-MXene hybrid structure

Optical biosensors have attracted much attention for their excellent sensitivity, fast response and label-free detection capabilities. Despite these advantages, conventional surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensors suffer from sensitivity and accuracy limitations. This study introduces an innovative SPR sensor design, integrating transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) and MXene with a standard gold substrate. The aim is to overcome the deficiencies of traditional SPR biosensors and enhance refractive index sensing sensitivity. Through meticulous parameter optimization, especially concerning the ratio between material layers, the proposed sensor structure achieves an impressive sensitivity of 193°/RIU, which is a 31% enhancement compared to the monometallic structure. The results will provide a new solution for the development of advanced optical biosensors.
