Big Data, Spatial Economical Model and Ranking Size Rule

Contradictory empirical conclusions in macroeconomic and microeconomic fields are often encountered even there exists big data. The reason is that the scientific application of big data cannot be separated from a deep understanding of the various complex systems behind the data. For the urban agglomerations as complex giant systems, the well-known rank size rule is re-analyzed based on one easy function from a fractional-order coupled Solow model. Considering the spatial term, a more accurate model is obtained for one center or multi-center of urban agglomerations. The results illustrate that the new one is more effective than the general rank size rule for the simulated data and for the real data from Chinese cities which have spatial effect obviously.
