Enhanced Security Paradigms: Converging IoT and Biometrics for Advanced Locker Protection

In the realm of security, the perpetual pursuit of safeguarding invaluable possessions and critical documents has spurred continuous innovation. Modern organizations deploy an array of sensor and alarm systems, encompassing keys, facial recognition, and fingerprint authentication to fortify their security protocols. However, inherent limitations in these methods render them vulnerable to potential theft. This research presents a pioneering approach to overcome these constraints by introducing an advanced smart locker system engineered to significantly mitigate the risk of theft compared to the existing systems. The system seamlessly integrates essential components, such as Arduino, fingerprint sensors, micro-cameras, electronic door locks, keypads, LCD displays, and node MCU culminating in a robust defense mechanism. Three intricately designed protection layers harmonize to form a comprehensive security framework. The first layer, termed the “shielding layer,” activates the micro-camera and fingerprint sensor to capture images of unauthorized tampering. These images are transmitted expeditiously to the email and phone of the administrator for immediate intervention. Subsequently, the “identification layer” employs a sophisticated fingerprint sensor to authenticate registered users, further enhancing security. Finally, “Internet of Things layer” generates a four-digit OTP dispatched to the mobile device of the user. Upon entering the correct OTP, users receive a secure link via email, thereby granting access to the locker. This synergistic integration of security layers transcends conventional systems, offering robust protection and intelligence within security paradigms. The proposed system, tested against several state-of-the-art secure locker systems, effectively addresses evolving challenges in safeguarding valuable possessions and documents providing enhanced security.
