Ferronematic lyotropic

Combination of ferrofluids and liquid crystals has been possible using a nematic lyotropic phase which is an aqueous micellar system and a water base ferrofluid. A stable product results which can be oriented in magnetic fields of several Gauss, i.e. 10

times lower than for the initial liquid crystal. Cholesterization has been possible on the same material.
