Constructive and Destructive Effects of Mediatization of Historical Memory

The study analyzes the process of transformation of historical memory under the influence of digitalization. To reveal the specifics of the phenomenon of historical memory in the digital society, the concept of midi-memory is used to describe the mechanisms of storage and translation of collective representations of the past in the conditions of digitalization. The process of digitalization gradually erases the boundary between cultural and communicative memory. In addition, the number of subjects involved in the construction of representations of the past is significantly increasing. As a result, the mechanism of constructing images of the past is changing. These processes lead to the need to analyze the destructive and constructive effects of the mediatization of collective memory.
