A B-learning strategy for teaching electric circuits

Predominantly, introductory courses in electrical circuits adhere to the same topics and pedagogical methodologies. Integrating simulation tools to enhance the educational experience is widely recognized in these courses. Nonetheless, blended learning (b-learning), where digital educational platforms supplement classroom lessons, still needs to be explored. This manuscript advocates a hybrid pedagogical approach centered on problem-solving to instruct electrical circuits within the temporal domain. This study involves analogous second-and fourth-order mass-spring-damper systems. The in-person component elucidates the theoretical equivalents and their subsequent simulation. The online module includes additional materials, exercises, and collaborative projects to model circuits using various tools (Electronic Design Automation - EDA). This approach was empirically validated with a cohort of 172 students using 14 EDA tools. A survey revealed improvements in student motivation, autonomous working capabilities, and a pronounced interest in extending this pedagogical model to additional curricular areas.
