Learning Inductive Power Transfer Systems by Combining Electromagnetics and a Versatile Laboratory Electronic Platform

This work proposes a methodology for the teaching of inductive power transfer systems based on the combination of electromagnetic simulations and a versatile power electronics converter specifically designed for lab sessions. Both activities complement each other resulting in a reinforced learning process that allows students to acquire enhanced skills in inductive power transfer systems analysis and design. The methodology consists of a set of learning activities comprising lectures, laboratory sessions, and project work. Laboratories include electromagnetic and electronic simulations and hands-on activities. Several assessment activities are also proposed comprising a final exam and the evaluation of a project work.
