Retos Indigenius, Inspiring STEM Vocations in Indigenous Students

Retos Indigenius: Inspiring Futures in STEM project is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting quality education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), and reducing inequalities (SDG 10) of the 2030 Agenda. Its main objective is to make visible and promote equal opportunities, as well as to inspire more young people belonging to indigenous communities to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This project aims to achieve its objectives through a combination of hands-on challenges and inspirational talks given by STEM experts. These activities not only aim to foster interest in STEM areas but also to promote critical thinking in solving the problems posed. In addition, it focuses on empowering and motivating women to consider careers in these fields, highlighting their importance in the personal progress of and development of their communities. The expected results of the Retos Indigenius project include the introduction of active teaching methodologies that effectively bring STEM areas closer to students. It also seeks to promote diversity and inclusion in STEM education by adopting an intersectional approach that recognizes and values the multiple identities and experiences of participants.
