Application of a HF Signal Injection Sensorless Method for an Extra Low Voltage PMSynRel

In this article, we study the performance of the low speed encoderless pulsating carrier signal injection method applied to an extra low voltage (48V) permanent magnet synchronous reluctance machine intended to a transport application. Indeed, working at extra low voltage is quite challenging since it imposes reduced voltage injection limits compared to the one used in standard applications (Voltage supply higher than 100V). For the targeted application, the main constraint is therefore to mitigate the intrusive effect of high frequency injections. Based on a series of experimental tests, the influence of the main parameters of the HF method are analyzed in details and conclusions are drawn.
