Optimal resource scheduling for a greenhouse powered by an islanded microgrid

The paper investigates solutions for optimal management of energy in a greenhouse powered by an islanded microgrid. A day-ahead optimization procedure for scheduling the resources in such an islanded microgrid with multiple generators is investigated in order to cope with the predicted greenhouse energy demand curve while minimizing the energy cost and maintaining the recommended operation of the microgrid equipment. Cuckoo Search (CS) algorithm was used for solving the optimization procedure. Several scenarios were considered based on the initial value of the energy stored in the batteries. The results were compared to those obtained by running the Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) algorithm.
