Underwater image enhancement algorithm based on color correction and area dehazing

In this paper, an underwater image enhancement algorithm based on color correction and region division is proposed to solve the problems of color distortion and fog blur in different regions. Firstly, red channel compensation and dynamic range stretching were used for color correction. Secondly, detail enhancement and dehazing restoration are carried out on the foreground and background regions respectively to obtain the final output image. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively correct the color distortion of underwater images, effectively remove the fog blur in each area and enhance the detail information, and obtain high definition, high contrast and real natural restored images.
