A Novel Detection Method for Determining the Communication Availability of Satellite-Ground Laser Links Based on Ground-Based Observations

This paper presents a novel detection method utilizing infrared cameras and ground-based radiometric meteorological tools to assess the communication availability of satellite-ground laser links. Focusing on analyzing and estimating the cloud thickness above the ground optical station, this approach proceeds to deliberate on the decision of whether to establish the satellite-ground laser links and assess the communication availability of the laser link after establishment. It offers a clear visual representation of how different cloud thicknesses affect the availability of communication links, as illustrated by data curves and simulation validations. Additionally, atmospheric temperature and humidity, identified as key factors influencing cloud formation through a portion of the algorithm model presented in this paper, indirectly affect laser link attenuation.
