User-Focused Telehealth Powered by LLMs: Bridging the Gap Between Technology and Human-Centric Care Delivery

The rapid advancement of large language models (LLMs) has opened new frontiers in healthcare technology, enabling the development of intelligent and user-centric telehealth systems. This paper presents a smart telehealth system that seamlessly integrates LLMs across two primary modules: Appointment Scheduling and Teleconsultation. Adhering to the principles of user-centered design (UCD), the proposed system aims to enhance the overall telehealth experience for both patients and healthcare providers. The Appointment Scheduling Module leverages natural language processing and intelligent scheduling algorithms to streamline appointment booking and optimize resource utilization. The Teleconsultation Module harnesses LLMs for accurate symptom interpretation, clinical decision support, and personalized care delivery during remote consultations. The Clinical Decision Support Module integrates LLMs with medical knowledge bases and evidence-based guidelines, providing health care providers with real-time, tailored recommendations for diagnosis and treatment planning. Finally, the Health Data Analytics Module employs LLMs to analyze aggregated health data, uncover population health trends, and generate comprehensive reports to drive informed decision-making and advance medical research. By seamlessly integrating LLMs throughout the telehealth workflow, this system aims to improve accessibility, effectiveness, and user satisfaction with remote health care services, ultimately paving the way for more personalized, data-driven, and collaborative healthcare delivery models.
