Mathematical Modelling of Froude-Krylov Forces and Moments Using Dynamic Parameterised Surfaces

This article presents a mathematical methodology for obtaining Froude-Krylov forces and moments on a buoy submerged in the ocean, under the influence of regular waves. In addition to modelling the wetted surfaces of the buoy, a study of pressure through a fluid column is proposed to enhance the quantitative results of forces in the heave direction. The parameterised surfaces are dynamic with respect to the immersed waves, involving rotational and translational movements, all as functions of time to optimize the numerical results obtained, reducing computational time. The proposal is applied to a device that has been studied by other researchers in both experimental and theoretical works, featuring cylindrical, conical, and flat geometric shapes. Various force and moment diagrams are presented and analysed under the new approach.
