Triple Band CSSRR Inspired Microstrip Patch Antenna Using L-Slot DGS For Wireless Applications

Wireless communication has emerged as an indispensable element of our daily lives due to technological advancements. The vast majority of electronic devices are outfitted with the capability to facilitate wireless functionality. In light of the expeditious advancement of multifaceted communication gadgets, these devices are now able to function across a multitude of frequency bands. However, in order to resonate in more than one frequency band, it becomes essential to employ multi-band antennas. Wideband antennas have inadequate gain and impedance bandwidth, while being able to resonate over wider frequency ranges. Consequently, the utilization of compact multi-band antennas can potentially serve as a solution. In presented study, a tri-band antenna design at 3.5 GHz, 5.5 GHz and 5.8 GHz is proposed for improving the performance of antenna for Wi-Max and WLAN applications. In this article an improved patch antenna radiation efficiency and gain is attained. In the proposed antenna, for triple band operation, a single L-slot DGS and two CSSRR have been carved in the ground plane to reduce size and improve performance. In this study, gap coupling for capacitive matching is used. The proposed antenna provides better functioning by adjusting proportions of CSSRR and Patch at triple frequencies. The position of L-slot also play a role in getting a better triple band result. The antenna has been simulated using CST V.12 simulator.
