Analysing Distinct Change Detection Methods for Identifying Spectral and Spatial Variation Using Planetscope Satellite Data

This study presents the dynamic changes of the Brahmaputra River near Guwahati, India, employing false-color PlanetScope satellite imagery. The objective is to observe the river's seasonal fluctuations and changes developed in the river. The two temporal images are obtained from October 10, 2020, capturing the river as it commenced its recession following summer floods, and April 28, 2021, presenting the increase in water levels triggered by the overflow of the river water. In the false-color satellite images, water is depicted in green, illustrating areas of flow, while red represents exposed soils and sand. The study underscores the capability of PlanetScope's satellite imaging to not only map flood extents but also to monitor water resources across expansive territories. Through this research, the transformative effects of seasonal rainfall on river morphology and the surrounding environment are vividly captured and analyzed. Providing invaluable insights for environmental monitoring, resource management, and disaster management strategies.
