Home Fire Alarm Prevention System

Taiwan experiences over 1000 fires monthly, necessitating more effective fire prevention measures to safeguard lives and property. Aligned with the 11th goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to “Build inclusive, Safe, Resilient, and Sustainable Cities and Villages”, we developed an all-in-one sensor. This sensor integrates various sensing technologies, encompassing flame detection, PM2.5 monitoring, carbon dioxide measurement, TVOC analysis, formaldehyde detection, and temperature and humidity sensing. It enhances fire detection capabilities and reduces false alarms. For sustainable cities and communities, an integrated system was proposed in this study. The central computing subsystem was included to collect sensor data, store them in a MySQL database for future data management and analysis, and evaluate them under predefined fire standards. Upon reaching the standards, the system sends Line and Google Voice notifications to prompt users to address fire-related matters urgently. Additionally, a web interface facilitates data querying and analysis, allowing users to interact with the central computing subsystem through voice commands. This feature provides real-time information on air quality, fostering a healthy indoor environment for users and their families. The system improves fire detection reliability and reduces false alarm rates. By aligning with the 11th goal of sustainable cities and communities in the SDGs, the system enhances safety by protecting lives and property effectively.
