Analysis of Spatiotemporal Evolution and Influencing Factors of Carbon Storage Services in Guangdong Province Based on InVEST Model and Computation

We investigated the spatiotemporal evolution of carbon storage in Guangdong Province between 2000 and 2018, along with its influencing factors. Utilizing the InVEST model, we analyzed carbon sequestration patterns concerning various meteorological, topographical, and socioeconomic factors. The results uncovered distinct spatial variations in carbon storage, notably higher concentrations in the province's northern mountainous regions compared to the southern coastal plains. The vegetation index and slope were positively correlated with carbon sequestration, whereas landscape diversity exhibited a negative relationship. Population size negatively impacted certain areas. The spatial distribution patterns of carbon storage were discovered, providing the basis for policy formulation and implementation measures for global carbon emission reduction and climate change response efforts.
