BeyondWords: A Sign Language Translator

Sign language is vital for communication for millions of people worldwide who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Nonetheless, there is still a communication barrier between the deaf population and the broader public because sign language is visual. In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in research on computer vision and deep learning techniques for sign language detection in an effort to solve this difficulty. The purpose of this project is to use two well-known computer vision frameworks, Media Pipe and OpenCV, to create a system that can recognise and comprehend motions in sign language. Hand movements can be tracked and identified with these technologies, and deep learning models can be used to identify certain signs.
