Site Selection Method of Multiple Phase Shifting Transformer Based on Sensitivity Analysis

With the continuous growth in demand, existing electrical grids may experience congestion and potential overload. Phase shifting transformer (PST), as economically viable devices for regulating power flow, offer a promising solution to this issue. However, determining the optimal installation locations for PST within the system is paramount. To address this, a multiple phase shifting transformer site selection method based on sensitivity analysis is proposed in this paper. This method facilitates the selection of suitable configuration locations when installing multiple PSTs within the system. Initially, sensitivity indices of line active power flow performance to PST impedances are derived based on the PST injection power model. Subsequently, considering the impact of multiple PSTs on system power flow, sensitivity indices are recalculated after the installation of multiple PSTs. Finally, a multiple phase shifting transformer site selection strategy is proposed, establishing a model for multiple phase shifting transformer site selection. Feasibility verification of multiple phase shifting transformer optimization configuration is conducted using the IEEE 30-bus system. Simulation results demonstrate that the integration of PSTs into the system effectively enhances its operation.
