Research on the Orderly Control Strategy of Charging and Discharging Power for Clustered Users in a Distribution Area

To effectively coordinate the charging demands of electric vehicle (EV) clusters in distribution areas with the capacity constraints of the power grid, a novel EV cluster charging control strategy is proposed. This strategy is implemented through the trading of charging rights on a designated "trading platform." When the total charging power of a cluster of charging stations in a certain area of the power grid faces limitations during specific time periods, this strategy employs market-based methods. It utilizes the trading of EV charging rights on the "trading platform," enabling the automatic adjustment of EV charging demands with user participation. This approach helps to alleviate the grid load during peak hours and optimizes the power load distribution in the distribution network area. The strategy enables the total power of charging stations installed under a single distribution transformer to exceed the difference between the transformer’s capacity and the peak of other loads. This not only meets the charging needs of a larger number of users and increases the number of charging stations, but also ensures the safe operation of the power grid. Additionally, it enhances the utilization efficiency of the power supply facilities and reduces the pressure for upgrading and renovating these facilities.
