Reliability Evaluation of SSCS Based on Improved FB-BW Algorithm

As the power grid structure grows more complex, the SSCS becomes crucial for maintaining its efficient operation and preventing mishaps. The reliability of the security and stability control system (SSCS) is crucial for the safety of the power grid, acting as a key safeguard. Its failure could result in a domino effect of faults, causing significant power outages and economic damage. This study introduces an SSCS reliability evaluation approach utilizing an improved FB-BW algorithm derived from the hidden Markov model (HMM), tackling the multi-state representation issues of the SSCS. First, the study examines the failure modes and impacts of the SSCS, and a multi-state model is created to represent its real-world operational conditions. Then, an HMM with an improved FB-BW algorithm is introduced to overcome the challenge of directly observing the states of the SSCS. Finally, an evaluation index is proposed for quantifying the reliability of the SSCS. Case analyses are conducted to confirm the validity and precision of this method.
