Comparative Study on Compensation Characteristics of CLC and LCL with Tuned Half Wavelength

The tuning circuit can compensate the electrical distance of the transmission line to half the power frequency wavelength, making it possess half wavelength transmission characteristics. The passive CLC and LCL tuning circuits exhibit different steady-state characteristics due to their different structures and parameters. A comprehensive comparative study of them can provide reference for engineering applications. In terms of design, starting from the structure and parameter design of the tuning circuit, equivalent circuits and cascaded networks for two tuning methods are provided. Based on this, the filter characteristics of passive CLC and LCL tuning circuits are analyzed, and their transfer functions and amplitude frequency characteristics are given. In terms of operation, the reactive power and voltage characteristics of two tuning circuits were analyzed, and the impact of reactive power compensation on improving the transmission capacity of the half wavelength transmission system was explored. The reliability of the conclusions was verified through extensive simulation.
