Day-ahead Optimal Energy Management Strategy for Distribution Network Considering Distributed Photovoltaic and Demand Response

Coordinated management of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems (ESS) considering electricity demand response (DR) can improve energy efficiency. In this work, a day-ahead optimal energy management strategy is proposed for distribution networks considering the layout of distributed photovoltaic (PV) and ESS, as well as the various types of DR. Two types of flexible loads are considered to mitigate supply-demand imbalance and reduce daily operation cost. Based on this, an energy management solution considering PV and ESS was constructed with the objective of daily cost minimization while considering constraints of power balance, power flow, ESS and PV. Finally, the proposed day-ahead optimal energy management strategy is extensively assessed through the IEEE 33-bus network with high proportion of distributed PV, ESS and flexible loads. The Results show that the proposed optimal energy management strategy is efficient.
