Optimal Scheduling of Mixed Pumped Storage Power Station under Multiple Market Environments

As important market entities, traditional hydropower stations and pure pumped storage power stations cannot meet the requirements of a high proportion of new energy power systems in the current electricity market environment. Therefore, this article designs an electricity pricing mechanism for mixed pumped storage power stations, which includes settling the electricity price based on peak-valley prices, implementing the two-part tariff price system for pumped storage, or retaining capacity electricity fees for the power station and participating in the day-ahead spot market as a price recipient. Based on this mechanism, an optimization scheduling model for hybrid pumped storage power plants under a diversified market model is proposed to maximize power plant profits. Finally, this paper demonstrated the proposed model’s effectiveness through case analysis. The analysis results indicate that the proposed mechanism is conducive to reasonably allocating hydropower resources and improving power station profits.
