Design of a Symmetrical Lattice Type Phase Shifter for 5G and Beyond Communication Systems

This study presents wideband symmetric lattice phase shifter designs with low phase error, low loss, and high linearity for 5 G and beyond communication systems. Maximum phase errors for $180^{\circ}, 135^{\circ}, 90^{\circ}$, and 45° are achieved as $0.5^{\circ}, 1.9^{\circ}$, 0.8°, and 0.7° respectively, in the $3.3-4.2 \mathrm{GHz}$ band. Control circuits with compact and very low power consumption are obtained by utilizing CMOS transistors as switching elements in the phase shifter topologies. $0.18 \mu \mathrm{m}$ CMOS transistor technology parameters are used in the design and simulations. It is demonstrated that, compact, precise and efficient lattice-type integrated phase shifters can be achieved for the 5 G and beyond communication systems by utilizing the proposed method.
