Implementing the Green Deal and CSRD in Bulgaria – a Challenge or an Opportunity for the Business?

Sustainable development has emerged as a top priority for Europe in the post-COVID era. Effective facilitation of the Green Deal necessitates close collaboration among governments, businesses, and society. The ambitious and challenging initiative of implementing the CSRD regulation is underway. Sustainability reporting is gaining momentum for European corporations and is as relevant for Bulgarian organizations. The objective of the paper is to provide a regulatory overview of the Green Deal and CSRD, as well as to outline challenges and opportunities for their implementation at both national and organizational level in Bulgaria.
