Efficiency Evaluation and Performance Analysis of a Photovoltaic Park Connected to a 20 kV Distribution Network in Galati County, Romania

In this study, we delve into the design, installation, and performance evaluation of a photovoltaic park in Romania, connected to a 20 kV distribution network. With a peak capacity of 2640 kWp, the park capitalizes on Romania’s favorable climatic conditions and supportive renewable energy legislation. This comprehensive analysis encompasses both the photovoltaic panel sector and the power evacuation system. Specifically, the park’s transformer station has been designed with equipment that complies with European standards, utilizing cutting-edge technology common in recent energy distribution markets. The evaluation cover’s the park’s capacity to monitor operational efficiency and includes calculations of the performance ratio as well as various power losses due to temperature, dirt accumulation, inverter efficiencies, network challenges, and availability issues. Annually, the park contributes 3405 MWh of electricity to the grid, showcasing the effectiveness of photovoltaic installations in advancing sustainable energy solutions within regional power networks.
