An experimental investigation of the stroke of the nozzle needle on hydraulic characteristics of electromagnetic fuel injectors

Electromagnetic fuel injectors play a crucial role in modern internal combustion engines, determining the precise delivery of fuel into the combustion chamber. The stroke of the nozzle needle within these injectors affects their hydraulic characteristics, influencing parameters such as fuel flow rate, injection timing, and spray pattern. This paper investigates the impact of varying the stroke of the nozzle needle on the hydraulic behavior of electromagnetic injectors through experimental analysis. We chose to focus our study on the first generation of electromagnetic injectors, specifically the BOSCH CRI1 model. Our experiments were conducted using a versatile test platform designed for CMX 6000 X diesel fuel systems. Results indicate significant dependencies between nozzle needle stroke and injector performance, highlighting the importance of optimizing this parameter for efficient and effective fuel delivery. Understanding these hydraulic characteristics is vital for enhancing engine performance, emissions control, and overall fuel efficiency.
