A New Topology of Multi-Level Inverter

According to the spread of Multi-Level Inverter (MLI) in the high power and medium voltage applications and their advantages but at the cost of large number of components which also makes the system more complex. Complexity increases with the increment of output voltage levels. This paper proposes a new topology of MLIs under the name of Zigzag Multilevel Inverter “ZMLI” that can generate levels 7,15,31,63 … Etc. Along with an explanation of its general circuit configuration, operating concept, and the equations that it is based on to design. Also taken a 15 and 31-Level ZMLI as examples. The performance and operation of proposed inverter is verified through simulation results through MATLAB/Simulink software.
