Power Control Optimization for Enhanced LTE Network Resilience Against Illegal RF Repeaters

In today's interconnected world, mobile network coverage is crucial for seamless communication and access to information. Radio Frequency (RF) repeaters serve as a cost-efficient solution to boost signals by amplifying and retransmitting them from existing base stations to areas with limited coverage. While beneficial, unauthorized repeaters located beyond the control of mobile operators can create interference issues for other users. This study focuses on improving the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) mobile network performance provided by two major operators in Libya by addressing the challenge of unauthorized RF repeaters. Through the implementation of optimized power control algorithms and adjustments to certain parameters, notable enhancements in network performance have been achieved. These enhancements encompass enhancements such as increased average download throughput per user, higher LTE traffic capacity, and enhancements in modulation and coding scheme. These results underscore the effectiveness of optimization methods in improving network capabilities and enhancing overall user satisfaction.
