Research on IoT Device Access Technology based on the Power IoT Platform

Power Internet of Things (IoT) is a new type of information transmission technology that uses data acquisition, analysis, and calculation of various parameters in the power system to establish an intelligent network for monitoring and controlling the operation status of the power system, helping to achieve automation, digitization, and visualization in the power system. With the development of power monitoring business, the IoT platform has connected to an increasing amount of devices, which has brought challenges to the platform’s device access and management capabilities. Firstly, various types of devices often involve various professional lines such as infrastructure, production technology, and digital in power companies, and some device management functions and business applications have overlapping phenomena. Secondly, device from different manufacturers are heterogeneous, resulting in a considerable degree of access difficulties. In response to the above problems, this article designs a device access management process and technical process for power IoT, explains the role of the IoT platform in power device flow, clarifies the entire process of IoT device installation and commissioning; proposes a unified platform access standard for different types of device by constructing an device access technical system. According to the technical scheme in this article, China Southern Power Grid has built the power dedicated IoT platform access system with a capacity of tens millions devices, achieving a total of 430,000 device accesses, supporting the whole domain IoT collaborative system of "cloud pipe edge terminal".
