An improved sensorless control strategy for five phase permanent magnet synchronous motor

This paper introduces an innovative approach to low-speed, sensorless control for five-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs). Departing from conventional techniques that typically involve the injection of rotating or pulsed high-frequency signals into the motor’s stationary coordinate system, this strategy leverages the analysis of the induced carrier current to deduce the rotor’s position. The paper focuses on refining the precision of signal processing and position estimation to enhance accuracy, the paper detailed the design process of the filter and adopted a phase-locked loop similar to a simplified Kalman filter to obtain the final rotor position estimation value. Through simulation verification, the proposed method demonstrates fast and accurate position information acquisition ability at low speeds, while maintaining good system stability and dynamic characteristics. This improved control strategy provides a new solution for optimizing the performance of five phase permanent magnet synchronous motors during sensorless low-speed operation.
