Evaluating the Performance of GMSK Modulation for Measuring SpO2 Using Software-Defined Radio and Universal Software Radio Peripheral

This paper assessed the efficacy of Gaussian Min-imum Shift Keying (GMSK) modulation in detecting SpO2 utilizing Software-Defined Radio (SDR) and Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP). The objective of this research is to build fundamental knowledge for the creation of wireless communication networks employing SDR, which is essential for future Internet of Things (loT) healthcare applications. The evaluation of GMSK modulation performance is based on criteria like modulation frequency, Eb/No, bit rate, and gain values. The findings suggest that the optimal packet error rate (PER) is attained when the bandwidth-time product (BT) is set at 0.35, the Eb/No is 30 dB, and the gain is adjusted to 60. This paper emphasizes the advantages of utilizing IEEE 802.11ah in loT healthcare applications, such as decreased power usage, extended communication range, and enhanced dependability. The study's findings offer useful insights into the possibilities of GMSK modulation in wireless communication systems within the healthcare business.
