Path Loss Analysis with a Stochastic Model for Real Values mmWave NLOS V2I Communications

Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) networking using mmWave systems can give rapid data transmission to vehicles. This research applies stochastic modeling to investigate the coverage and channel characteristics of mmWave systems for a specified urban environment. In this paper, Close-In Free Space Reference Distance Path Loss (CI-FSRDPL) model is studied and simulated in Non Line of Sight (NLOS) conditions for several mmWave frequencies 15, 26, 28, 38, 60 and 73-GHz. Besides, large-scale propagation parameters are determined in terms of free space path loss value at reference distance, PLE (Path Loss Exponent), PDF (Probability Distribution Function) and standard deviation of Shadow Factor (SF) for each outdoor V2I communications scenarios. Several scenarios are evaluate based on two types of horn antennas (22 deg/15 dBi and 07 deg/25 dBi) with and without beam alignment procedure between the transmitter and receiver.
