Enhancing Recovery Performance in SOME/IP Service Discovery protocol against Temporary Link Failures

As more and more features are added to and evolved in vehicles, driven by manufacturer and consumer demand, the need for changes in vehicle architecture has increased. This has led to the emergence of “Service-Oriented Architecture” (SOA) as the architecture of the future. SOA provides interoperability and structuring of automotive functions through service interfaces and uses “Scalable service-Oriented MiddlewarE over IP (SOME/IP)” as middleware. The “SOME/IP Service Discovery (SOME/IP-SD)” protocol is used to implement the Publish/Subscribe processing between Client and Server. In vehicle, network link failures can be caused by unexpected circumstances. In this paper, we present a method for recovering from unexpected link failures in the SOME/IPSD protocol.
