Eco-driving and energy management for fuel cell trucks under vehicle-following scenarios considering changeable air resistance coefficient*

The fuel cell truck has obtained huge attention during decarbonization process. Vehicle-following scenario is a quite common operation mode for fuel cell trucks. The paper designs a hierarchical control strategy of eco-driving and energy management strategy (EMS) for fuel cell truck equipped with a fuel cell/battery hybrid powertrain when the vehicle is driving in follow mode. Firstly, based on the leading vehicle speed, the eco-driving system generates the optimal speed curve with the objectives of minimizing vehicle power demand and maintaining preset inter-vehicle distance. At the same time, the changeable air resistance coefficient due to various inter-vehicle distance is considered. Then, based on the eco-driving results, EMS is applied to implement optimal control actions for vehicle powertrain. The simulations results show that the eco-driving considering changeable air resistance coefficient can decrease vehicle energy consumption by $0.53 \%-1.21 \%$ and maintain inter-vehicle distance within feasible range. Energy management can achieve power allocation, and vehicle powertrain can be controlled to work in healthy state.
