Development of Lighting from LED Lamps for Growing Chrysanthemum Flowers

This study investigates the use of LED lighting for the cultivation of Chrysanthemum flowers, aiming to identify the most suitable LED bulb for optimal growth and blooming. Three greenhouses were utilized for the experiment: the first relying on sunlight, the second employing LED light-emitting diode bulbs, and the third utilizing LED solar cell spotlights, both powered by solar cell sets. Chrysanthemum growth was monitored, maintaining a minimum light intensity of 80 lux across all greenhouses. Results indicated that Chrysanthemum flowers exhibited the most significant growth in the greenhouse illuminated by LED solar cell spotlights, with an average height of 27 cm and an average flower diameter of 1.5 cm. The second-best growth occurred in the greenhouse using LED light-emitting diode bulbs, resulting in an average height of 25 cm and an average flower diameter of 0.9 cm. Conversely, the greenhouse relying solely on sunlight demonstrated the least growth, with an average height of 15 cm and an average flower diameter of 0.6 cm. Notably, the orange light emitted by the spotlights proved to be the most effective photoperiod for optimal Chrysanthemum growth, as it corresponds to the wavelength most efficiently absorbed by plants.
