Analytical Harmonic Suppression with Controller Design for Electric Spring System

In this paper, a PIR-PI control based on a single-phase space vector PWM (SPSVPWM) strategy is proposed for single-phase electric spring systems to improve power quality. The proposed SPSVPWM-based PIR-PI control is inherited from the frequency variation resistant Quasi-PR control while incorporating an automatic selection mechanism to ensure both accurate steady-state tracking performance and lower harmonic performance. The front-end input voltage is automatically magnified for tracking accuracy at steady states and dwindled for reducing harmonics. The proposed control exhibits lower total harmonic distortion (THD) performance than conventional SPWM modulation strategy-based control. Both simulations and experiments verify the power quality enhancement of the proposed control based on the SPSVPWM strategy.
